As we approach the United States Air Force birthday on September 18, I’ve been reflecting on my own time in service and the moments that have stayed with me over the years.
I enlisted in the Air Force in 1973, near the end of the Vietnam era. Even though the war was winding down, the risks were still real and the responsibility was immense. I’ll never forget losing seven friends when a B-52 bomber crashed during a routine training mission in Anchorage, Alaska. It was a stark reminder that service comes with sacrifice, not just in times of war, but every single day.
When you raise your hand and take that oath, you are making a promise to put your life on the line for your country. It’s not about getting recognition or making a personal gain. It’s about stepping forward when your country calls, understanding that there are potential risks, and choosing to serve anyway.
We bring that knowledge to the office with us at ATC Driveaway. As a veteran owned company, we understand that freedom has a price that must be paid by service members, former service members and by those that have made the ultimate sacrifice. We are proud to serve in remembrance of that payment not just on Air Force birthday, but all year.
Supporting Those Who Serve
For us here at ATC Driveaway, the U.S. Air Force’s birthday is more than just another date on the calendar. It is a reminder of the precision and discipline required to keep our fleet, and this nation, moving forward. We know that “Aim High” sometimes comes in the form of moving locations often; moving locations comes in the form of a Permanent Change of Station move that necessitates the secure transport of a POV.
There are many complexities involved with the transport of a vehicle during a military move; such complexities can arise as much from deadlines as from the inherent risks of transporting a high-value item across state lines. No matter whether you’re arranging a coast-to-coast vehicle transport to a new assignment, or coordinating a POV for an airman, you can expect ATC to deliver nothing but the same quality, and the same “Fly-Fight-Win” attitude that is characteristic of the Air Force.
We’re honored to alleviate that stress for our military, so that they may continue with the most important of priorities, while leaving the logistics to our expert team at ATC.
So today, we pause to salute the United States Air Force: past, present, and future. Thank you to every Airman who has stood watch, defended our skies, and answered the call. It is an honor to celebrate this milestone with you.
Happy Birthday, United States Air Force.
